Cheyenne Respite Programs & Services

Family Nights Out
Families bring their children with disabilities and their siblings to the Head Start facility located at 3528 Sheridan Avenue, on the first and the third Saturdays of every month. A structured recreation program including games, crafts, and movies is provided.

Nights Out begin at 4pm and end precisely at 10 pm. Parents are asked to bring a dinner meal for children and Cheyenne Respite Programs will provide a healthy snack in the evening. Children of all ages are welcome. An application for family care must be received and approved before children may attend Nights Out.

There is no charge for Nights Out services, however, parent or guardian donations are appreciated and encouraged. Parents may donate on a night by night basis or arrangements for quarterly billing can be made. All donations are voluntary and greatly appreciated.

Wings for Independence Dances
Dances provide a social gathering for young adults with disabilities while allowing for independence and providing a break to parents.

Dances are held every second Friday of the month (except summer) at the Community House in Lions Park. Individuals ages 12 to 25 are invited to attend. Dances begin at 7:30 pm and end at 10:30 pm with a light snack provided.

Each participant is charged three dollars for admission to help defer the cost of renting the facility.

Summer Recreation Program
A recreation program for children 8 to 21, is held in the Lions
Park Community House. Activities include: swimming, special daily programs, outdoor play, nature walks, and crafts.

The Summer Recreation Program is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays for two weeks in June, July, and August. See the calendar of events for exact dates. A Program fee of $50 per child is due at time of registration, however scholarships are available. An application for family care and the summer recreation program must be received and approved before children may attend the Summer Recreation Program.

In-Home Care
Is provided on a temporary basis when the family needs a break, and the child with a disability is better cared for in his or her own home. There is no charge for In-Home Care, however, the Executive Director of Cheyenne Respite Programs must approve all In-Home Care prior to services being provided.
